At the heart of our experience break concept is recognition that when you visit a friend who lives abroad, they can introduce you to so much more of their country than if you simply arrived to explore yourself. Our experience breaks are therefore designed to reveal Gascony and let you discover aspects of life here you might otherwise not experience.
Local people will share with you their artisan traditions, passions, creative skills and boundless knowledge of the countryside.
Some of these breaks are structured activities, others simply help you explore with some guidance so your are free to choose something that moves at your own pace and which gives you sufficent free time to take in all that is Gascony.

The aim of our 'places to stay' section on the Gascony Experience site is to enable you to search and find a place to stay in Gascony that meets your needs for your holiday or break at a price suitable for your budget.
You can search for all types of property. There are grand chateaux of the region often originally built by the local wine producers, solid stone or traditional wooden framed villas and houses, charming and welcoming B & Bs or chambres d'hote, sophisticated or comfortable hotels, chalets or static caravans in the woods or by lakes and rivers and of course camping itself in similar areas.
These properties are provided by independent property owners and French Tourism organisations who are working in partnership with us to bring you the broadest range of properties available in Gascony.
So just click on 'places to stay' in the top menu bar search and browse to find the holiday home of your dreams.

Gascony is in South West France (see white spot). It is a long way south of the UK but which generally means it is warmer and worth having a swimming pool between May and October. Gascony has been christened the 'French Tuscany' as it has abundant quantities of terracotta roof tiles, sunflowers, poppies and glorious rolling hillsides. The foods superb to! Auch is even on the same latitude as Florence.
And now the good news, Gascony is closer and cheaper.
You can fly to Toulouse, Pau, Bordeaux or Biarritz with a flight of under 2 hours.
You can drive from ports in Northern France e.g. from Caen in approximately 8 hours.

Lavardens is an imposing hilltop fortified village. The castle attached to it was a stronghold of the counts of Armagnac. For a while the château belonged to the Marquis of Mirabeau, father of the famous revolutionary. Afterwards it fell into decay but has since been completely renovated by a private society 'amis du château'. Open daily June-Sept 10.30-7pm; April, May, Oct 10.30-12.30 and 2-6pm. This is the 12th anniversary of the St Mont wine festival. It celebrates the wines of the Plaimont wine makers and takes place in the villages of Saint Mont, Riscle, Termes d'Armagnac' Bouzon-Gellenave, Sabazan, Aignan, Lupiac, Marciac, Plaisance du Gers and Bassoues. There are wine tastings in the villages and at the chateaux, traditonal local meals, a medieval carnival bringing the vintage to the people, markets with local cheeses, hams, confit and foie gras and music and dance into the night in many places.
